The Music Never Stops

Scene from Shakedown Street at Deer Creek, photo by John RottetWhat a way to go out! Take a bow, boys!

Thank you to Dead & Company for a stellar run, especially this Final Tour that blew the doors off!

But does this mean it’s all.. um.. you know.. OVER?!??!

Not until you say so, my friends. I know the guys all have new projects in the works and tour dates lining up for their next incarnations.

And as far as I am concerned, make yourself easy. My cookbooks will just keep rolling, like they have for  28 years now.

As long as you keep ordering ’em, the Kind Veggie Burritos Cookbook will keep turning you on to over a hundred delicious, easy recipes collected from Shakedown Street and our kind sisters and brothers all over America.

Each dish is tried and true and guaranteed to nourish you body and soul, in part because all proceeds from every book go to charity!

For instance, why not toss together a China Cat Mandarin Orange Salad to freshen up your Summer table? Or maybe you could go for the gluten-free Slipknot Spinach Pie to share with your friends and fam.  And naturally, you’re gonna want to roll up some veggie burritos (six whole pages of delicious choices, naturally!), and voila! Whatever late Summertime fun you’re planning, you’re ready to rock all night!

Believe It If You Need It, If You Don’t Just Pass It On…

The Kind Veggie Burritos Cookbook is a collection of tour heads’ and Shakedown Street’s best dishes for touring, camping, tailgating, and even hanging out at home.

Chock full of over 120 delicious recipes, they range from super easy to extra special.

The Kind Veggie Burritos Cookbook has some of the best and most loving recipes you’ll ever find — for munchies, beverages, meals, and more! And while you’re at it, you can savor the sweet goodness of knowing you are doing good for others.

Because, while these yummy dishes bring good vibes for you and your family, you are also supporting three important causes for people in need. For 28 years, I’ve donated all proceeds after expenses to the Rex Foundation, and SEVA. But because of the ongoing crisis in Ukraine, I am also sending five bucks for every order to CARE Ukraine.

The Kind Veggie Burritos Cookbook is guaranteed to be your most unique, tasty friend in the kitchen, as you gather round at home or get ready to hit the road.

Let’s cut to the chase, Beth! How do I order?

A Little Background
I cooked up this idea after one of those insane Spring 1991 Greensboro shows, when I was searching for something soul-satisfying to eat.

I bought an actual kind veggie burrito from a sweet sister in a ’78 van, and it was about the most scrumptious thing I had ever tasted.

Charlotte TicketTotally inspired, I decided to start collecting the great recipes I would run across on Shakedown Street, as well as from my tour family friends and also the Deadnet newsgroup (remember them?) and others on that new interweb thing.

It took four years of work (and very delicious research!) before I finally launched my self-published book in the lot at those sweet 1995 Charlotte shows.

And yeah, I have to say — the Kind Veggie Burritos Cookbook was an instant hit.

Thanks to YOU, the Kind Veggie Burritos Cookbook of today has lots more recipes than that first slender little booklet, and has found happy homes in homes, celebrity kitchens (thank you, Andy Cohen!), and tour packs around the world.

It’s even gotten super kind vibes from Natascha Weir, Bobby’s wife:

And then she made sure that my husband John (the KVB photographer) and I got in to those Chicago “Fare Thee Well” shows! Yeah – we were Beyond Grateful!

But while these yummy dishes bring good nourishment for you and your family, you are also supporting three important foundations for people in need.

March 23 marked our 28th year, and I have continued to donate all proceeds from your purchase (after expenses) to the Dead’s Rex Foundation and to SEVA, Compassion in Action. Plus, since 2022, five dollars per book goes to CARE.

Made in small, Earth-friendly batches at my local printer, and shipped by mail-order with my love, Kind Veggie Burritos serves up real comfort food – tasty dishes that will nourish you, and bring good lovin’ to people that need your help!

And did I mention?  All proceeds go to the Rex Foundation, SEVA, and Care-Ukraine.

SEVA is the non-profit foundation for compassionate social action, that brings medical flag of Ukraine with a stormy sky backgroundassistance to people around the world, and is headed by good people like Ram Dass and Wavy Gravy.

The The Rex Foundation is the Grateful Dead’s own charitable foundation. It supports the arts and honors the spirit of community, service and creativity.

And ever since February of 2022, the highly respected CARE organization has been working on behalf of the direct victims of the war in Ukraine, as well as the neighboring countries who are struggling with a massive refugee crisis.

My friend Steve Silberman, award-winning author and featured commentator in the Scorsese masterpiece, “Long, Strange Trip,” has this to say:

Someone you know (probably YOU!) really needs this cookbook today!

If you have a preference about which charity you prefer your money to go to, please let me know. Otherwise, I’ll split it.

Yeah, Beth! Turn me on to Kind Veggie Burritos right now!

I hope you’ll love my book as much as I love turning people on to it! And since I don’t advertise, I’d really appreciate it if you’d spread the word to your friends and family!

Hope to see you at some of the upcoming shows! Meantime, stay healthy, stay kind, and stay in touch!
